Description and evaluation of the high quality photogrammetric scanner UltraScan 5000

چکیده
Scanning of analogue images has become a key hardware technology specific to modern digital photogrammetry. Since specialised photogrammetric scanners have been introduced in the late 1980s, a gradual development and improvement of their performance regarding hardware, software and functionality, and productivity has been observed. Originally, geometric accuracy of scanners was the overriding specification for scanners. This is increasingly being augmented by a concern for good colour and radiometric performance. This article describes the UltraScan 5000, a modern photogrammetric scanner manufactured by Vexcel Imaging Austria, and its features, assesses its radiometric and geometric performance with various well-founded tests, and discusses its versatility and use in production. The UltraScan 5000 was introduced in November 1998 and since then, a surprisingly large number of systems has been installed worldwide. Their successful operation illustrates on a daily basis the validity of the technical solution and tests at user sites have confirmed a good to excellent Ž . performance regarding geometric accuracy and resolution, radiometric performance noise, dynamic range and colour rendition. q 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. متن کاملEvaluation of DTP Scanners - a Case Study with Agfa Horizon
Scanners are an essential part of softcopy photogrammetric systems. Although the developments in direct digital data acquisition have been enormous in the last decade, filmbased systems are used in all fields of photogrammetry. The main use of scanners today is definitely in the digitisation of aerial images, particularly for digital ortho-image and DTM generation, and integration of image data...
متن کاملA concept for feature based data registration by simultaneous consideration of laser scanner data and photogrammetric images
Surface measurement of complex geometric objects by means of optical techniques, such as laser scanning or photogrammetry, requires multiple views from various stations. The data sets of the views, e.g. point clouds and photogrammetric images, are given in individual coordinate systems. For a complete representation of the objects, the views have to be transformed into one common coordinate sys...
متن کاملSimulation of Close-range Photogrammetric Systems for Industrial Surface Inspection
Close-range photogrammetric measurement systems are increasingly used for high-precision surface inspection of car body parts. These measurement systems are based on an active light source, the projector, and one or more cameras. Many systems use a sequence of fringe projection, mostly a combination of the gray code and phase shift technique. Basically the quality of the measurement result depe...
